This picture is an example of cultural diversity through food.Using water colour and pencil crayon I used texture and colour to get a look that shows warmth over the dinner table.Using multiple colours I think really helped show mixed cultures on a dinner table and it brings attention to different foods.
I love using water colour as it is easy to control and to show what kind of painting I’m trying to do. I used food as an example as I always grew up with food from mixed cultures. With different cultures on one table I find it easy to bond since meaningful food comes with stories and culture to share.
The dinner table I created shows an example of my background and experiences with family that comes from different cultures being shared simply by food. Even without saying anything, just enjoying new food gives people an opportunity to learn more about culture and more about people’s background.
