Title: Children of the Seven Generations
Medium: Mixed Media.
In “Children of the Seven Generations” I explored the trauma that is behind the movement Every Child Matters. It is inspired by my story as Cree person and because I want every Indigenous child to feel like they matter. My process was letting the art speak and letting the artwork guide the process. This piece connects with the theme of lived experiences with the displacement of Indigenous people strong connection to Every Child Matters movement. The child ripped in two represents a broken world and the words represent our struggle with language and culture.
I hope “Children of the Seven Generations” resonates with Indigenous people to reflect their struggle so they don’t feel alone. I hope it resonates with non Indigenous people so that they see our struggle.
This piece is unique in my work because I am just starting to exploring my connection with art and culture.
