Artist Statement
In this painting, though ordinarily looking, is the house in Shanghai my father in law grew up in. Since moving to Canada, he has never made a trip back to Shanghai to visit his old home before it was torn down. I was privileged to have visited this place before the demolition happened and snapped a picture for him. This past July, I decided to make it into a painting as his birthday gift.
