Call for Madiba Award Nominations

The Madiba Award is named in honor of Nelson Mandela, affectionately known by South Africans as Madiba (Father of the Nation). It is presented annually during our Black History Month Celebration to a leader of African ancestry in Durham Region that has made significant contributions to social justice, equality, and human rights, and whose journey embodies Nelson Mandela’s values, visions, and commitment to overcome barriers in his long fight for freedom and equality. The award is a striking, original bust sculpture of Madiba. The annual deadline for nominations is December 31.
